I'm at the end of Riven... I am at the telescope and open the hatch, lowered
it down... but nothing happens... I heard there was supposed to be a end
movie.. but so far nothing...

I checked some of the hint/cheats sites to see if there was anything I was
missing... didn't look like it.

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

Greetings:

It appears as though you forgot to supply the power to the telescope.
Find the place where the power is activated, throw the switch and come
back. If you have captured Ghen AND freed Catherine you will have a
happy ending, otherwise one of the alternate endings will ensue.

The Gate Room is pentagon-shaped. Each rotation opens a new set of
passageways and closes off access to others. This can be seen throught
the peep hole located in the wall itself after it rotates each time
you press the metal round button on the right-hand side of the
entrance passage. If you pass the entrance to the Gate room and
downward toward the sea, you will find a cave which you can enter by
sliding under the locked gate. At the end of the cave there is another
entrance; if this entrance is blocked you can see the room
configuration from this vantage point through the peep hole just as
you can see it throught the peep hole at the main entrance. Rotating
the room one time and looking through the various peep holes will
clarify things for you. If in doubt, rotate the room once more and
look through the peep hole. There are five different "states" the
rotating Gate room can have. Figure this puzzle out and you will solve
the telescope mystery. If you have not yet solved the Gate Room puzzle
then it is unlikely that you have solved the Waffle Iron puzzle which
is located at the top of the Golden Dome, consequently you are far
from done.

I have already moved the steam switch so there is power to the telescope. I
have also captured Ghen and rescued Catherine....

.... so any other ideas why it's not giving me the ending?

That glass is still messy, isn't it? Doesn't it all make you feel like just
breaking something?

I've gone through everything I can find even on the hint sites but it's not
working...
so obliviously I'm missing something.

You keep mentioning things will the glass... Can you just type out what
needs to be done please?

Right - you've got power to the telescope so it moves, and you have the
hatch open. If not, do not scroll down, since we need to help you through
those two first.

OK - this is a spoiler space. It is intended to prevent people who are just

You move the telescope down to the glass then down once more. This breaks
the glass. If you are unable to break the glass, that is because there is a
little catch on one or other of the telescope supports which is intended to
prevent you from doing so - flip it out of the way and try again.

You've not done one or both of two things. Do you have Catherine's journal?
Have you yet considered cleaning the glass?

If you look through the eyepiece, you should be able to see stars through
the murky glass. If you can't, the hatch is still closed.

There's a little stop device designed to prevent you from breaking the
glass...let it not thus presume!

You don't. But the fact that you know there's glass tells me that you've
opened the hatch successfully. :-) Now there's just one catch in your way...

I'm not understanding this answer. If he has power to the telescope
and opened the hatch, all that remains is to hit the safety bolt on
the left-hand side of the frame and then hit the round button next to
the lever 5 times to lower the telescope until the glass breaks.
