I recently purchased the DVD version of Riven because I got tired of
constantly swapping CD's. I have 3 computers all running Win XP. I can get
the program to work on only one of the machines even though the 'installing'
process goes smoothly on each. After installation, however, when I click the
desktop icon on two of my machines NOTHING happens. I've even gone directly
into the folder where the execute file was installed and clicking that
results in the same response..NOTHING happens.
Here are some of the specs of the machines: system A has a Pentium 4, 2.8
ghz, 800 mhz FSB processor; system B has a Pentium 4, 2.4 ghz, 800 mhz FSB
processor; and system C has a 1.7 ghz, Celeron processor. System C is the
only one that will run the program after installation. I suspected that my
problem might be the Hyper Threading capabilities of the two Pentium 4
systems so I disabled it with no effect. Since system B is hooked up to my
HDTV I am very anxious to get this resolved. Has anyone had similar
experiences? What next?
