I received a package in the mail over the weekend with no return
address. After opening the plain brown bubble pack, I was surprised to
find that it contained a DVD that was labeled Riven II (The Journey
Back), not Myst III or URU, but Riven II. I figured that I must somehow
be on some beta test lyst (he,he). There was no manual or instructions
so I figured that it must be real, so into the DVD drive it went.

I couldn't believe my eyes. It started the same as the original, I was
in the cave, but this time Atrus was not there to give instructions.
However, there were some books on the desk. One gave some brief
instructions, as to what I had to do. It stated that my first visit to
Riven was only part of the journey and that I must return. I was told
that things would be different that many changes took place since my
last visit.

I touched the linking book was transported to the cage. This time the
cage remained open and no one was there to greet me. I stepped out and
noticed that the sky was red and things were a bit darker. I started to
explore and noticed that the telescope was padlocked, as was the door to
the rotating room. When I tried to get under the gate it was blocked by
a big rock. I looked around and noticed a rope ladder going over the
edge of the cliff. I'll explore that later. I'm to excited right now to
get to deep into the game. For now I'll just explore the places that
I've been before.

I crossed the bridge and into the room with the chair. I pulled the
lever and this time I was transported to the center of the generator
room. There are a lot of controls here. I pull the switch on the right
was transported back to the chair. I decide to leave and come back
later. I got up and tried the switches on the wall. They still work.

I make my way to the mag-lev location. Time for a ride. I press the
blue button. It seems like the car took longer to get here. I got on.
The sound of the vehicle as it took off brought back some old memories.
I love the way this thing rides like a roller coaster. As I looked ahead
I noticed that one of the rails was damaged and sparks were flying.
The car came to a sudden stop over the water. I couldn't do anything
except open the door. Looks like its time to bale. I grabbed my seat
cushion and jumped.

I couldn't swim. I thought, this is Riven I can't die or need to start
over. Just then the sunners showed up. This time they were not afraid
of me. They must only be afraid when they are out of the water. After
eyeing me up for a moment they started to push me through the water,
like the dolphins at sea world. I was finally pushed to a beach with
stairs that lead up the embankment and a dark cave entrance to the
right. At first I though that it was the same beach that I found the
sunners in Riven I, but after climbing the stairs I knew that this was a
different island. After saving the game I moved on.

I went back down the stairs and into the dark cave. There is a light
up ahead; as I walked I could hear a buzzing sound. The closer that I
got to the light the louder the sound became.

Suddenly I felt paralyzed.

I open my eyes only to find that the sound was my alarm clock waking me
up from a wonderful dream.

Sorry.

Wow... I got really excited reading this!

And it was so great to find a "real" message among the spam...
